2015 Koenigsegg Agera One:1 is the World’s First Megacar..

April 26, 2014 No Comments 0

ONE:1 WORLD´S FIRST MEGACAR Koenigsegg is creating six uniquely developed and designed production cars – the One:1 program. This is one of the most exclusive production car programs ever envisaged. The hp to kg curb weight ratio is an astonishing 1:1. This is the  “dream” equation previously thought impossible. On top of this, the One:1 is the first homologated production car in the world with one Megawatt of power, thereby making it the world´s first series produced Megacar. These are the reasons for naming the car One:1. The 2014 One:1 truly raises the bar of performance. The One:1 features new and unique solutions to enhance track performance without compromising top speed or everyday usability, with a stunning visual appearance to go with it. Examples of features; unique track optimized aero winglets, extended venturi tunnels and side splitters, Le-Mans inspired active wing configuration and optimized active undertrim air management. Large air vents for improved cooling, roof air scoop to support the 1 Megawatt of power, 8250 RPM rev limit, complemented with Custom made Michelin Cup Tires, upgraded rear triplex suspension with carbon bevel springs and active shock absorbers and ride height, combined with upgraded revolutionary Koenigsegg Aircore carbon fiber wheels. Koenigsegg was the first extreme car manufacturer to take steps toward green technology with the release of the biofuel CCXR in 2007. The One:1, a sibling of the highly competitive Agera R, follows in the footsteps of the CCXR as it also runs on E85 biofuel, race fuel or normal gasoline. In order to give the One:1 maximum flexibility when it comes to power delivery, Koenigsegg has implemented its patented variable turbo geometry technology in the One:1 program. This technology gives improved response and more low-end torque than otherwise possible. As an example the One:1 engine has over 1000 Nm of torque between 3000 to 7500 rpm, which...

Adastra Redesigning the future of efficient long range cruising..

April 22, 2014 No Comments 0

In many ways, the Super yacht Adastra looks more like a spaceship than a luxury yacht. The work of John Shuttleworth Designs, the 42.5m technologically advanced Trimaran took five years to design, and was recently launched with a price tag of $15M Dollars. Part of the design focus included the selection of lightweight materials allowing the yacht to consume less fuel. In creating a yacht that can cruise for long distances without the need to refuel. With a top speed of 22 knots, the Adastra is designed with major components that are lightweight, yet stable, in mind. The core of the superstructure consists of carbon fiber Nomex honeycomb, with the hull consisting of glass and Kevlar foam. Oak cabinetry can be found within the interior. However, honeycomb was used to reduce the weight of the wood. Additional weight reduction was also accomplished by custom designing many elements and building them specifically for the vessel. Even the weight of small elements such as hinges was taken into consideration. The main engine is a Caterpillar C18 1150hp. There are also two outrigger Yanmar 110hp engines. There are three generators on board. Two of these can be found in the outriggers attached to the Yanmar engines. The third can be found within the main engine room. At a speed of 13 knots, the fuel consumption was predicted to be 90 liters per hour. However, when tested, the Adastra outperformed this prediction, using only 60 liters per hour. The measured fuel consumption at a speed of 10.5 knots was 29 liters per hour. At this speed and consumption rate, a full tank would take the yacht approximately 10,000 miles. Three anchors make up the anchoring system. Carbon fiber was used to create the drum winches, which are run using hydraulics. The primary anchor is deployed from...

Montblanc: A Fusion of Fine European Craftsmanship & Time-Honoured Designs..

April 21, 2014 No Comments 0

Bringing pieces to life, which emanates classic heritage and refined creation. For over a century, Montblanc has embraced the traditions of lasting value and exquisite craftsmanship. The iconic Montblanc emblem is a symbolic stamp of excellence - and the company’s uncompromising principles of stylistic design and timeless precision have allowed them to create heirloom collections that are passed on from generation to generation. The company once associated unequivocally with luxury writing instruments is now considered a fully-fledged luxury brand producing exceptional leather goods, jewellery, sunglasses, and timepieces. When Montblanc decided to pursue watch making in 1997, some approached the decision with apprehension and scepticism - could Montblanc, the renowned manufacturer of fine fountain pens transfer and apply their craftsmanship to mechanical wristwatches? One thing was immediately understood: Montblanc would never simply stamp their logo on the dials of watches purchased ready-made from outside suppliers. The logical route was to go to Switzerland, where watch manufacturing traditionally has its roots. Montblanc timepieces are the symbiosis of elegance and dynamic robustness, with each piece artisanally handcrafted to perfection in the Swiss ateliers of Le Locle and Villeret. Needless to say, the brands heritage and quality of movements formed a loyal following. Montblanc was one of the first companies to produce a chronograph pocket watch, one of the first to build a chronograph that could track thousandths of a second and the first to create a watch indicating the time from all over the world. These achievements are reflected in The Montblanc Star World-Time GMT Automatic, a cosmopolitan instrument designed primarily for businesspeople or bankers who travel the world and at the same time, and want to keep a watchful eye on the opening hours of e.g. the world’s stock exchanges. This wristwatch puts two different time zones on its dial and at the same time,...

The Best of L.A.: Luxury and Culture Co-Exist..

April 19, 2014 No Comments 0

Los Angeles is known best as the international Mecca for film and glamour, however, beauty is only skin-deep, and L.A. has more to offer than that. Culture, culinary ambition and creativity meet to form an exciting vacation spot with divine weather and much to explore. RESTAURANTS My personal favorite restaurant (anywhere, as a matter of fact) is Il Pastaio, an Italian gem. Owned by the Drago family, Il Pastaio boasts delicious food and a fine clientele on a not-so-inconspicuous, perfect-for-people-watching corner in Beverly Hills. I recommend going there for lunch and trying their amazing salads, especially the Vegetariana, and their Mezzelune, a homemade lobster ravioli dish. Another fabulous Beverly Hills restaurant just around the corner is Villa Blanca, owned by reality TV star and restauranteur, Lisa Vanderpump. The restaurant is popular for its stylish décor and patio, perfect for people watching due to its central location in Beverly Hills. The menu is a fusion of Mediterranean, Italian and Asian food concocted by Executive Chef Francis Dimitrius. Vanderpump also co-owns another trendy restaurant, Sur, located in Hollywood. Another celebrity restauranteur, Wolfgang Puck, owns several Beverly Hills staples, including Spago and steakhouse Cut in The Beverly Wilshire (a Four Seasons hotel). Power breakfasters will enjoy the early morning scene at Barney Greengrass Restaurant, situated on the fifth-floor of Barneys New York on Wilshire Boulevard. Open at 8:30 a.m., this restaurant is the hottest place for agents and other Hollywood who’s who. Barney Greengrass is known for its sturgeon and bagels and has a beautiful terrace overlooking Beverly Hills. Sit at the communal table to overhear the best gossip. Another upscale restaurant, Mariposa is just down the street in Neiman Marcus, and perfect for refueling during a day of rigorous shopping. Though their popovers are most famous, many Beverly Hills ladies who...

The Best of St. Tropez..

April 19, 2014 No Comments 0

SUMMER IN ST.TROPEZ Like St. Barths, St. Tropez is an exquisite travel destination and one that appeals to a similar crowd. The main differences between the two are their accessibility (St. Tropez is part of mainland France, and thus easier to reach), humidity and unofficial dress code. While St. Barths is much beachier, St. Tropez is a dressier and more crowded destination. Both places are under French dominion, conduct themselves mostly in French and use the Euro. RESTAURANTS Possibly the most famous restaurant in St. Tropez (though it is actually in neighboring Ramatuelle) is Club 55. Located on a beautiful beach, the restaurant is half beach club/half seating. Club 55 was made famous by bombshell Brigitte Bardot, who extolled its virtues. When filming And God Created Woman, Bardot and her film crew discovered this gem. The name stems from the year this happened – 1955. The restaurant is still in the family, currently owned by Patrice de Colmont. Diners will love, the classic crudités dish for the whole table, my personal favorite thing on the menu. It consists of delicious, homegrown vegetables (so fresh you’ll want to discipline them) and a perfect accompanying dip. Whole tomatoes, carrots, radishes and other vegetables come on this enormous healthy platter. The restaurant also serves delicious fresh fish – as well as many other dishes – and has a wonderful dessert menu. There is plenty to enjoy at Club 55 besides the food; the people watching will attract even the most oblivious. Also in the town of Ramatuelle and about three miles’ drive from St. Tropez is Restaurant Tropicana. There are three Michelin-starred restaurants within four kilometers of St. Tropez. Villa Belrose and La Badiane each have one star. The third, located in The Résidence de la Pinède Hotel, is called La Vague d’Or....
